Mission

The Monadnock Chorus is dedicated to bringing diverse people together through the power of choral music. As a non-auditioned community chorus, we provide an inclusive and welcoming space for singers of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels to share in the joy of music- making. Through high-quality performances of classical and contemporary choral works, we hope to inspire, educate, and enrich both our singers and the broader community. By honoring our 65-year tradition and fostering new generations of singers, we strive to create meaningful musical experiences that harness the transformative power of music to bring hope, foster connection, and create lasting impact for generations to come.

We present four major concerts each year in December and May in Peterborough N.H. A smaller auditioned choral ensemble drawn from the larger membership, the Monadnock Chorus Chamber Singers, prepares and performs several concerts each year in smaller venues throughout the Monadnock region. Our SING! Program provides free memberships for students aged 12-26 to sing with us. Additionally, we periodically hold open rehearsals throughout the region as part of our regular rehearsal schedule each semester.

We appreciate the incredible generosity of all of our donors in helping us to fulfill our mission. Deriving only half of our operating budget from ticket sales and member dues, we depend on fundraising events, program ads, private donations and grants to fund our activities. More than half our budget is dedicated to compensating the musicians who inspire us -- who direct, accompany, and perform in our concerts with us — and the remainder to our concert rentals, logistics, scores and other business expenses.
